Chamber Board Sets 1999-2000 Program of Work

At their recent meeting, the Chamber's Board of Directors unanimously approved the 1999-2000 Program of Work presented by the Program Committee Chairman Lane Rees (Human Resource Solutions). The document details the volunteer committee structure of the Chamber and outlines the Board's expectations of each committee for the upcoming year.

"By having a written Program of Work, the Chamber will be better able to guide the efforts of our volunteers so that, as an organization, we can realize the greatest results for our efforts. This business agenda was created to increase communication between the Board and our committees so that we're all moving the Chamber's programing in the same direction," said Rees. "The product will additionally help the Chamber in its recruiting efforts as it clearly explains the efforts the organization will undertake for the program year."

The Program of Works restructures the Chamber's volunteer efforts into three Divisions: Membership, Community Development and Growth, and Administrative. Each Division contains three or more committees. "This new structure increases the volunteer committees for the Chamber from six to eleven providing a greater opportunity for our members to become involved in the organization," Chamber Executive Director Pamela A. Tedesco said.

Chamber members will receive a detailed copy of the Program of Work including a tear-off sheet to select committee involvement enclosed in their newsletters; anyone else interested in receiving a copy of the Program of Work can either call or stop by the Chamber's offices.

Many hours went into creating the Program of Work by the Program Committee, which included representatives from the Chamber's current committees, members-at-large and Board members. The Chamber extends its appreciation to the Committee: Lane Rees (Human Resource Solutions, Inc.), incoming Board President Albert Butler (30-A Realty), Robert Dobson (Gulf Power), Sylvia Hanks (Sandestin Golf & Beach Resort), Harley Henderson, Jack Huggins (ERA Great South Realty) and Tom Powell (Walton County Economic Development Council).
